Wires all over my lawn - ROGERS WON'T HELP

corpfan
I've been here awhile

Hello, having a serious safety issue with Rogers and customer service won't help.

A few weeks ago Rogers did some work in my area (Port Credit area in Mississauga) and they left about 50-75ft of wiring (connected) all over my lawn.  The community poles are all on lawns as there are no sidewalks in my area.  I did not order any service upgrades but assuming there was some issue or it was general upgrades in the area.  Not sure why they left the cables all over my lawn but they are connected to the gray Rogers box and to the electricity on the pole.  This is a safety issue and annoyance in my opinion.  I would like to cut the lawn and don't want to touch the wires.  A child could play with the wires.  A dog could chew them.  They could blow onto the street and cause an issue with a car.

I called Rogers customer service and they said the ONLY way it could be handled was to make a service appointment with a 4-hour window and that I had to be home and if I wasn't or if I didn't answer the door I would be CHARGED $75!  I can not guarantee being home for an issue that has nothing to do with my service.  They said I needed to be home as they can't come on my property without my permission....yet this work was done ON MY PROPERTY without my permission!

I don't know what else to do and would love to escalate this to someone who cares about the issue.  Or do I just call the city and file a complaint?

PLEASE HELP!!

Good afternoon @corpfan,

I apologize for the difficulty you encountered in getting this situation handled. When there's a safety concern, we should get a tech out there immediately to make the situation safe.

In a case like this, as long as all the equipment is fully accessible from your front yard and we don't need to enter into a closed gate area you wouldn't need to be at home to let us in.

Please feel free to send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you in making the necessary arrangements. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.

Hi Corey, so how can this be arranged?  The manager told me someone would be by to take a look within 72 hours but this was 1 week ago.  I just called again and asked to speak to a manager and got the run around.

Send a PM, as suggested in the post above yours.

When logged into the forum, click on @CommunityHelps  .  On the page that comes up, you'll see a link near the top right of the screen to "send a message".  If you're using a tablet or phone, you may need to switch your browser to the desktop version. How to do that will depend on the device but a web search should find it.  There may be some back and forth required while Rogers get your personal information to look into your account.  Personal information is not allowed in this forum.

When logged into the forum, check the envelope icon at the top right of the screen for messages.  You would usually also receive an e-mail that you have a PM, but it may have ended up in your spam folder...
