Nokia Fastmile latest firmware removed the ability to see what band you are on

This change needs to be reverted. Who thought it was a good idea for a cellular based internet modem to not have the ability to know what band you are connected to?

Now the only way to really know is endless speed tests and resetting the modem. Not to mention no ability to know if carrier aggregation is on which is the biggest source of speed and obviously important information.

They basically stripped down the entire Cellular tab on the modem page to useless info on the SIM card and overall data usage. Before it had 5g and 4g band info along with carrier aggregation bands.

Maybe it is still there and hidden but I have clicked everything I can click on and nothing leads me to see the bands I'm on.

Not only that, but they appear to have removed the option to soft reboot the router via the web UI, which is something I needed to do daily to refresh my cellular connection to get any kind of stable connection. This "update" is a definite step backwards in several respects.

The update has removed the ability to see which towers, pci and bands you are connected to, I use this info to decide whether to reboot. BTW, you can still reboot or reset but menu is more critical.

Still there. In the overview page click on the router icon and it will bring up advanced settings where you will find reboot and reset options.

Re: Nokia Fastmile latest firmware removed the ability to see what band you are on

That is well hidden. I spent a while checking the menus out and didn't find that! Thanks.

100% irritated.

I would reboot it to refresh the signal.

What have to do now is use my remote smartplug to power off and on

Definitely need to see the band. In the country with marginal services need to reboot to get on the best band. Also one band has great service, until certain times of the work day, it becomes horribly slow, and better to run on the band with lower signal strength.
When will this be fixed please!!!

It shows how Rogers engineers dont care about rural customers.

But why would they remove these features anyway, makes no sense.

My router is 100 feet away from the house, mounted up high on the garage wall, so not so easy to get at.

I put a smart plug on the Nokia SLOWMILE router that reboots it at least once a day. It really helps with the issues of cell signal, especially SNR ratio.

I have done this since original install of the service last year, it reboots router early in the a.m.

I put one on the router, one on every mesh network device, one on every Wyze cams. Reboots each device automatically at the time I set. You can also do it manually at any time with the Kasa app, because the WIFI is stable, the connection to the internet is not. (thank Rogers for that)

Close to 3 acers of seamless WIFI coverage, too bad the Rogers service itself isn't so reliable.

Thank you for posting that it is still there.

But why would they make it more difficult to find that option.

You can see what band you're on by going to the following:

http://192.168.1.1/status_get_web_app.cgi

You will be met with some JSON data, promptly search for "band". You can still see what band you're connected to just not via the webgui. 🙂

I get a "500 Internal Server Error"

You need to be logged into the Nokia first then you can view the data from that page.

You get error 500 because you're not authenticated.

  1. Hi; It is really super helpful to still be able to pull out info regarding band being used, even with this downgraded firmware, I'm really want to thank you for this hint! However I have another question; I noticed when I'm connected to n2 on 5g and b2 on LTE, I'm not getting up-to 50mbps download and 3mbps upload. When for some reason FastMile decides to connect to n2 5g and b66 LTE, I'm getting steady 100mbps dn and 9mbps up. Signal strength, quality and signal to noise seems to be almost the same to b2 or b66. So I hate b2 band. Restarting device normally resulting connection to the same band it was originally connected to. Is any way to force bands I know to be better to maintain good performance? (I already tried to disconnect some internal antennas I thought would help to avoid b2 and I think because it is the same frequency as n2 so it does it cut of n2 band as well. Any help would be very appreciated. Cheers,
