Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

groupsrv
I've been here awhile

If I was to terminate rogers internet service, will I still be able to access my rogers yahoo @ rogers.com domain?

I used outlook on my pc for over 20 years and now I can no longer access it using the outlook client because the app password generator no longer works so I can no longer synchronize the folders.  I've been a customer of rogers for over 20 years and have deep links with the rogers yahoo email.  I don't want to switch if I still have login ids and authentications using the @rogers.com domain.  I don't want nasty surprises if i cannot reset passwords

@groupsrv : The latest subscription version (paid) Outlook will work without an App PW. The web-based (free) version of Outlook (with ads) will also work without an App PW, as will the latest version of Thunderbird for PC. These all will use your regular Webmail PW and not require the App PW.  This is similar to apps on devices like Mail or Gmail, depending on Apple or Android device

See the following summary post regarding the App PW for additional information.

You can also switch to Gmail and have it import your emails via the Gmail settings.

As mentioned by @Biollw , you can move your email account to a friend or relative who has Rogers Internet.  Once moved, you can change the password to one only you know.

I'm a senior advisor

No, once rogers service is terminated so is your email....UNLESS you get the email address transfered to a friend with rogers or other rogers active account.

I'm here a lot

How can I unmerge or unlink my Internet (rogers.com) and Yahoo accounts.  I want to link my Yahoo account with a more generic email address, but every time I try it takes me to the Rogers Member Centre.

Re: Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

Good morning @dmjcoopr,

If you're having difficulties with your @yahoo.com email address, you'll want to reach out to Yahoo directly for support.

Re: Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

Thanks for the response Corey.

Unfortunately, Rogers says only Yahoo can do it and Yahoo says only Rogers can do it.  Below is a link to a Yahoo help page and the note at the bottom says it all.  I've been on the phone with both Rogers and Yahoo and they both tell me to talk to the other one.

My problem is really a first world problem.  I want to change my Yahoo ID email address and I don't want to just create a new Yahoo ID, because I don't want to lose my Yahoo Fantasy Football history.

Thanks again for the response and thanks to you and the community for any help they can offer.

I should also mention that my Yahoo ID is linked to a rogers.com email address.

In all honesty. I used to have a Rogers.com email when I was young, but I never thought about planning for the future until I changed internet companies.   After losing my email, I decided to create a separate email account with Yahoo! Email, and have had it ever since.

The main reason is I did not want to be tied to a specific internet service provider for email for the rest of my life. I wanted the freedom of having to keep my email no matter what internet company I subscribe to even if I moved.

Re: Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

In a situation such as this, the only thing I can offer is to disable your Rogers email address entirely, @dmjcoopr. We do not have any access to unlink your email from your Yahoo account.

My only suggestion would be to start a new Yahoo email account and manually transfer your emails/data over to it but this won't help retain your Yahoo Fantasy Football history. Have you asked Yahoo if there's any way to transfer this history to a new Yahoo account?

Re: Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

I'm old but I'm learning.  I wish I had thought of that years ago.

Re: Is Rogers Yahoo account linked to Rogers internet service?

I have read in other forums that transferring history from one Yahoo ID to another is not possible.  If it were, that would establish a market of Fantasy Football mills in China generating killer history for insecure people to pump up their stats with cash!

I still have the Rogers account, but I am going to make a new Yahoo ID and start again as every season that I continue now just adds to my disappointment later.

Thanks for the response.  It's consistent with what they told me on the phone.  I had hoped the community would have a work around.

Oh, wow... I had never considered an illicit underground market for fantasy football!

I wish I could do more for you. Good luck with future seasons!
